1. What is the major issue shown in the video?
Answer:
The major issue in the video is racism. They despise other groups who are considered less intelligent and rioters. Because of that they think the group (Paki, Chills, and Polen) are not worthy of being friends or even having a relationship. This is illustrated in the minute video clip (2.09) “Why did you talk to him?” which seemed to forbid Emily from hanging out with Aryan. Many other examples that we can see, for example it can be seen in the section "Aryan. Is that a Muslim name?" They seem to find out first what people's national backgrounds are if they want to be friends. And also "Paki" which is a slur that is often spoken there shows discrimination that has been going on for a long time.
2. How is the major charactered portrait in the video?
Answer :
The portrait of the main character in the video is a person who often receives racist treatment around him just because he is of Paki descent, he is tired of being treated badly by those around him, and doesn't really like socializing with other people. This is of course because he was discriminated against. Of course he feels uncomfortable because when he meets people he will be discriminated against and labeled "Paki" . like in the 7.42 minute script " I'm tired of this, I'm British . i was born here, i'm not even religious, calling me paki?"
3. On what basis is the major character judged by different groups of the community?
Answer :
The main character is judged based on his religion and nationality. "Aryan. Is that a Muslim name? No. It's a Hindu name." And when at the end of the conflict, "Shut up, and why are you with this Paki?" From some of these examples we can see.
The main character is also rated poorly because his face looks like a foreigner, so he becomes the target of racism from white people. They scoffed that the newcomers they had previously met did not speak English. “Can't speak English. Lead us down the long road. Charged us three pounds before we even sat down. Stupid sir..."
4. 4. How does the major character feel when he is treated in such a way?
Answer :
The main character feels when he is treated in such a way is sad and angry, feels annoyed so he becomes a closed person and doesn't socialize much with other people, he feels tired of always receiving bad treatment from the people around him he said "I'm tired of this.. i'm not religious, calling me paki? "
5. What is your perception about western societies before watching the video?
Answer :
Social life in the west was very harmonious before, western societies is fun and we have more benefit if we interaction with them because we can know about another culture and we can share our own culture . Considering that a country like the UK is a country that people from various countries are aiming for, it makes them multicultural. so get used to the differences.
6. Has your perception changed after watching the video? Why?
Answer:
previous perception was wrong, they care about each other but on the hand they are uncomfortabl, insulting each other and not being nice before they know the truth. western people are very difficult to get along with many people. They always compartmentalize relationships based on rase and religion. This implies that they are not open-minded. Just want to hang out with people from the same group. Ethnocentric attitude dominates in their social life.
