Task 1

1. What is the major issue shown in the video?

Answer: Based on the video, the major issues that shown in the video is about hatred and racism and also dislike toward people with different religion and skin color. It shown by how they judge someone based on their ethnicity and religion. The main issue in Divided Kingdom video is about racism done to people outside their country, like pakis, chinese, foreigners, niggers, poles.

That is found in the dialogues:

a. 2:30 (Give me your fucking money white boy)

b. 6:16 minute script "couldn't speak a word of English. drove us a long way. Changed us three quid before we even sat down, stupid paki"

c. 7:12 minutes "foreigners, pakis, niggers, china and these damn poles. They make us bleed, we need to show them that this is our country" they treat badly and treat foreigners as they are in mention in the script you can't and shouldn't be in your country. but there are still those who defend and care for foreigners, and uphold equality

2. How is the major charactered portrait in the video?

Answer: Based on the video, the main character in the video is a quiet person (perhaps because he is often made fun of), doesn't have many friends, and prefers to avoid problems than to deal with them, as in the 10th minute, and prefers to avoid problems than face them. And based on the main problem in number 1 earlier because his skin color is one of the factors he is often looked down upon by people. His personality is closed, seems introverted maybe the reason is uncomfortable because of racism.

3. On what basis is the major character judged by different groups of the community?

Answer: Based on the video, the major character Aryan is treated badly because of people's racist views of the Aryan religion, and also towards immigrants such as Aryan who come from India. They even called Aryan Paki at 6.19 minutes. We are lucky because we are life in Indonesia, according with our mottos Bhinneka Tunggal Ika "Unity in Diversity" all religion free and comfortable to prayed

4. How does the major character feel when he is treated in such a way?

Answer : We saw that he felt angry, very sad and upset because people often judge him based on his skin color and religion and it seems that people have less tolerance for people of different skins and religions. Of course someone will feel uncomfortable, safe and always worried if they are treated racist in the surrounding environment.

5. What is your perception about western societies before watching the video?

Answer: Before watched the video, we think they will be open and accepting us and friendly toward us but no some of the are just biggot and ignorant and also hate toward some of the race and religion. We think thought that most westerners would understand tolerate any differences, although there may certainly be people who do the opposite.

6. Has your perception changed after watching the video? Why?

Answer : After we watched this video, our thinking changed from before. It turns out that Westerners are more racist than we think, they insult without knowing the facts. Indeed, there are some who accept differences like the woman in the video, but are more racist towards immigrants. They are very intolerant of the environment. Take Aryan's girlfriend and American friend Allison for example.
