1. DISCUSSION ABOUT YOUNG ADULTS
Topic 1 Writing
Everyone should leave the parental home by the age of 21. Discuss.
Answer:
Okay, so the conclusion from our discussion of our first material is that everyone has to leave their parents' house at the age of 21, which is we agree with the statement, where a child can deepen his experience, become independent and not dependent on his parents, but that doesn't mean other people can leave the house forever, there are times when they return to their family's house, especially their parents, where their parents raised them. Because when they are away from their parents, the negative impacts are promiscuity, free sex, drugs, and other juvenile delinquency due to lack of parental supervision. If you are 21 years old and you have the guts to live on your own and have the money to rent, then try living on your own.

a). What do you think of young adults?
b). What do you think of living at home?
c). Why are more young people living at home?
d). What are the good things about living with
your parents?
e). Should all young adults have to leave home?
f). What do you know about the Great
Depression?
g). Has coronavirus affected you financially?
h). How has coronavirus affected your country
financially?
Answer:
a). Talking about a young adult is interesting in fact. Comparing young adults now and old-time before is really different. young adult right now is influenced much the advance in science and technology. Their way of life is one of the most important things to be considered. They are so free and more independent. They sometimes leave the old cultures which are not suitable for the modern age. And they become more mature, I guess.
b). Living at home is that the house is a comfortable place to live whose main function is to fulfill the 'board' in these basic needs. In a house, one or more individuals live in a building that can protect it from changes in the weather outside or when there is a natural disaster. Living at home with parents for a young adult will create a kind of problem too. The best way is that young adults leave home and try to be more independent and don’t depend on their parents anymore. Living at home with parents will not make them more mature.
c). There are some reasons why they live at home. The main reason is that they don’t have a good job which makes them unstable in an economical factor. Then they go back home. In other words, their parents can support their life. Then they may be jobless. So, They can not make money at all. And the last unpredictable situation. Let’s say, the outbreak of coronavirus has created so many problems in life. Young adult has no other way to stand up by their own feet. Like or dislike, there will be no other way, living together with their parents.
d). Living with parents, of course, can give a kind of happiness. Everybody is born by his or her parents. Parents have a responsibility to grow up, educate and provide everything for their kids. It is happy for the kids, isn’t it? But, It has a limit until the kids can manage their own life.
e). Not all adults should leave the house, but it would be nice if the adult left the house, to increase the independence and experience. For example, when parents are sick and have to stay at home longer, this is where the important role of adults is where it is the responsibility to take care of them. By doing this, parents can feel that they really have children. What children need to realize is that their parents have sacrificed everything for them.
f). The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, lasting from 1929 to 1939. It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors.
g). can be said that 100 % yes. Since the outbreak of coronavirus came to Indonesia, everything is so expensive. The price of daily needs has increased so sharply and the money I have is not enough to buy them
h). The outbreak of coronavirus has brought so many impacts on my country financially. As far as I have seen that many companies have stopped running. People are not allowed to gather. Its consequence is that many workers lost their job. They don’t have enough money to provide for their basic needs. The rate of poor people raises so sharply. Even the people who have a lot of money feel reluctant to buy products in the market. The circle of economic life runs so slowly. It will create very slow economic growth. People become poorer and poorer.

b).What do you think of student loans?
c).Why will it take a decade for young adults to be able to leave home?
d).What are the bad things about living with your parents?
e).Is it better to rent or buy an apartment?
f).Would you prefer to live at home or on your own?
g).What advice do you have for young adults?
h).What questions would you like to ask the researchers
Answer:
a).regarding the article above, on the topic is that discussing young adults who are still living with their parents, there are many young people today who still live with their parents. It would be nice, if you are an adult or already have your own family, namely to live separately, families can still gather on weekends or holidays. big day. Because when someone is still riding with their parents, usually the control is in their hands. In fact, parents are often conservative or orthodox. They lead in their own way, and like children, they must obey. If it continues, it's not good psychologically. A family head will be considered weak and unable to develop his aspirations. It can also have an impact on work. You will tend to be passive and have no creative power. The initiative did not appear so that the child could not live independently later.
b). Student loans are that student loans or KTA will help students by providing installments. Not only for tuition but student loans also apply for all purposes that will support your studies, useful for easing the economic burden of students. For poor students, it is a good way to help them study at University. There are some benefits of it. Student loans offer financial support for students who would otherwise be unable to attend college. You do not need a credit history to receive a student loan. Student loans often have lower interest rates than private loans. Fixed interest rates prevent the terms of a loan from changing over time.
c). There are two factors. The first is massive student loan debt and the second is a lack of available work. These force young adults to be with their parents and take a long time until they have jobs.
d). * There are some bad things. You don't have any privacy or private space. Living with your parents will strip you of your space and privacy, and that can be a psychological burden, especially if you are used to living alone. No longer will you have the freedom to get out of bed and head to the kitchen in your underwear. No more drinking milk from the carton or playing music at odd hours. You can't even expect your parents not to enter your room since it belongs to them.
* You can't call friends over or have house parties. Have you always been the guy/girl at whose place friends crash every now and then? This will change when you move in with your parents. You'll no longer allow your friends to sleep on your sofa since the sofa is no longer yours. You can also forget about hosting parties. Neither a cozy get-together of your college buddies nor drinks with colleagues after work will be done if you're living with mom or dad.
*Unwelcome advice about your life. Whether you move in with your mum, dad, or both, you are likely to receive all kinds of advice, even if you don't ask for it. From what you eat to the amount of time that you sleep to the number of hours you play video games be prepared to get unsolicited advice (and judgment) for just about everything.
*People might think less of you. The inevitable disadvantage of living with your parents is that your people might make fun of you. You might be known as the 29-year-old guy who still lives with his mom or the 31-year-old woman who lives with her folks. Even though so many of our generation are living with parents, there is still a lingering social stigma that comes along with it, and you will have to face it head-on. There is no escaping the negative stereotype and you should prepare yourself for a negative opinion every now and then, especially from people of older generations.
*You won't learn the hard lessons of life. This applies especially to anyone who has never moved out of their parent's house. There are a lot of tough lessons and curveballs that life throws, and learning to catch them is part of growing up. By living with your parents, you are shielding yourself not only from hardships but also from the lessons life has to offer. Not only that but if you do eventually manage to move out, living alone could turn out to be a shockingly unpleasant and impossible experience. You may not know how to pay your bills, do the dishes, or even wake yourself up on time every single day of the year.
e). As long as we have enough money, it is better of buying an apartment instead of renting. Some advantages of owning an apartment: Enjoy personal space and privacy, Live by your own rules, Work from home more easily, Don't clean up anyone else's mess, Decorate as you like, Build equity to benefit your personal financial picture, Keep your living costs down.
f) In our opinion, we prefer to stay at home. The reason is that you are free about what you want to do in your own home. You feel safe and more comfortable too. You are free to decorate, paint, renovate, or whatever you want about your own home.
g). There is some advice: Engage in social interactions with everyone around you, Maintain close relationships with family and friends, Be kind to yourself, Perform the daily exercise for 30 minutes to an hour, Stay focused on the present, and don't worry about past or future.
h). Because of unemployment everywhere, around the globe and the outbreak which is still going on up to now, my questions are: What are the ways to overcome unemployment?, If we just let the people who get infected by coronavirus as they are, do you think, all people around the globe will extinct from the earth planet?

Activity 5 (Class discussion)
Consider the filmÅs opening quote from the British Council again:
ÅComplete immersion...is often the best way to develop your language skills.Ç
Now discuss these questions:
1. What is Åcomplete immersionÇ?
2. Why is it seen as such a good way to learn a language?
3. Is it possible to get some of the benefits of Åcomplete immersionÇ without going to an English-speaking country? If so, how?
Answer:
1. It means that the students who are learning English learn English from the native people, living together with them, looking at their life and culture, and interacting with them in daily life. By doing such of this way, the students learn the real language.
2. At school, students just learn language theoretically, like grammar, reading comprehension, writing, etc. But by immersing with a homestay family, where the students always hear real language from the native people, the nuance is so much different. It will make them understand so fast and their accent will be better and better too. But the problem is that only certain students can visit another country to learn the language they want to learn.
3. Complete immersion can be done too without going to an English-speaking country, I guess. The advance of science and technology has allowed learners to speak with native speakers right now. But it is not as complete as the students living together in a homestay where the native speakers live. Anyway, by practicing English a lot through the internet, it can give a nice lesson for the learners as well. Practice makes perfect, doesn’t it?
Activity 6 (Roleplay)

B interviews A in order to get all the information needed to place A with a suitable host family. A answers the questions, and also explains what their ideal host family would be like. When you have finished, swap roles and repeat the activity.
