This is the conlusion that came from all of the member's answer after we analyzing three questions from the video. Let's get started shall we!
1. What major issue the speaker is delivering?
In the first point we came to conlusion, the major issue is the differentiation of a culture can make an effect the way you appeal/treat other people or what do people believe in their rules of culture. In short how to make people comfortable with your appearances but don't defy the rules/culture. Poliegrino Riccardi, trying to deliver and illustrate how do very different cultures can successfully coexist and get accepted next to each other. in this case, he's using Norwegian behaviour and other nationalities. So we think it's really obvious the keywoard is "differentiation" and "culture, the differentiation of a culture play the main role. Different culture equals different rules. So it will born a social phenomenon called "social polarization" which is a phenomenon when a social or a culture or some group of people doing their usual activites that can affect the other. And this phenomenon are a promising proof that different culture doesn't mean a barrier for understanding as human being.
2. What cultures he is utilizing to present his points?
We jump into what Poliegrino Riccardo tried to present, he was utilizing especially Norwegian culture (behaviour) and other nationalities such as Italian, UK, French, Singapore, Finland, Dutch and lil bit Indian culture. Also there is unique thing such as like norwegian minimum words maximum message. British and italian maximum words minimum message. Singapore with their hierarchy in society, or with Finland, French, and India for queue. It's make the different countries have unique and cool stories behind it.
3. What three important points he is emphasizing?
Last but not least point. So, we think that it was not just 3 major points that Poliegrino Riccardi wanted to point out, but there are 5 major points:
1. Perception, what we see and what people want to see. What people hear and what people want to hear.
2. Culture is a thing that are accepted and familiar in a society, like the differentiation when he use a british and italian.
3. Hierarchy and ethical stuff, is about how people make a line on traffic side, how people line at the cafe or registration, and how people doing a service.
4. Curiosity is a must! curiosity brings you to know new knowledge that you never ever know before. Even though you don't like the whole thing, but the information of a language and culture could bring you to see what people's life in a whole view. for personal pilgrim view it reminds him of children.
5. In the end, when you are living the culture of your own and the other culture. Then you can merge in one lifestyle, it will be a global mindset that make a world go around.
We thought that's enough from us. If you would like to see our original discussion, you can visit our Blog. We're open for feedback or advice in any way.
